The Top 3 Tips To Feel Your Best While Traveling
Extended travel can take a toll on the body. Sitting stationary in a car, plane or airport for an extended period can leave you feeling stiff, sore and tired. Body discomfort can affect how you feel, what you do, and what your experience will be like once you get to your destination.
To improve your chances of feeling limber and ready for action when you arrive, here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. Stay Hydrated!
Now you might be wondering, how do you stay hydrated? It’s easy! Drink water, no sugar added coconut water, aloe water-based drinks, or other electrolyte-rich drinks.
Why should you hydrate? Well friends, your muscles are approximately 70% water and when the body gets dehydrated from lack of fluid intake or an increase in caffeinated beverages, your muscles dry out. Dehydration contributes to the body feeling stiff, sore, and tired.
2. Move Your Body!
Get up, walk around in a plane aisle, and take more breaks during road trips! A little movement mindfulness can go a long way!
Lack of movement causes your muscles to stiffen due to decreased circulation, lymphatic flow, and disruption in metabolic processes. This is NOT a nice feeling!
3. Stretch It Out!
Stretch lots, stretch often! On-going stretches done before, during and after your travel can help to avoid tension building up and resulting issues.
Stretching is one of those self-care techniques that you can do virtually anywhere, any time. Stretching tightened muscles to prevent tension is a straightforward method available to anyone at any time.
