The BEST Caffeine-Free Coffee Replacement Recipe
Sometimes I'm cold…
Sometimes I'm hot…
Sometimes I'm bitter…
Sometimes I'm sweet…
What am I?
I’m not your ex-girlfriend, I swear!! I'm actually the ever-versatile drink: TEA!
Today I’m sharing my favourite tea recipe: Homemade Yogi Tea. I love the rich taste with its complex flavours! Its aroma is truly fantastic.
Yogi Tea is traditionally from India and made from a combination of warm spices. It's easy to digest and delicious with only a few ingredients. Normally, Yogi Tea is made from black tea, like English Breakfast, Indian Assam or Chinese Keemun. I like using Red Rooibos tea, which is caffeine-free and works well in balance with the other ingredients.
Caffeine-Free Yogi Tea
You will need
1 Medium-sized pot
1 Small strainer
1 Ladle
Ingredients
4 Cups of water
1 Red Rooibos tea bag
5 cardamom pods
1 cinnamon stick
5 cloves
5 black peppercorns
3 slices of ginger
Optional
Milk of choice (being lactose-free, I like using oat or coconut milk)
Honey to sweeten to taste
How to Make It!
In a medium-sized pot, add tea and all spices. Do not add milk or honey at this point.
Bring the water and spice mixture to a boil and enjoy the fantastic aroma that fills your home.
Let simmer for 30 mins. 1/4 of the liquid will evaporate in half an hour, making the liquid a rich, dark colour.
Dispense the tea with a ladle, pouring through the strainer to catch any floating ingredients.
If you desire, add milk and honey to your cup of tea to make it a sweet, creamy treat!
I love this tea with milk and honey in the afternoons when I'm craving coffee. It always hits the spot, even though my Yogi Tea doesn't have an ounce of caffeine.
I hope you try this recipe, tweak it to your liking, and enjoy it no matter what time of day! Honestly, there is nothing else like Homemade Yogi Tea.
It's worth the effort!
‘Til next time!
