Frequently Asked Questions

“[Monika] has super strong hands but knows exactly how much pressure to use to get results. She's great at checking in for feedback and I love the follow-up care recommendations. I really hate hanging out in waiting rooms, so the in-home massage clinic experience has been awesome. I'm super happy I found out about this local small business in Airdrie!”

FAQs

Where do I park?

You are welcome to park in the driveway or on the street.

What is direct billing?

Direct billing is an electronic transaction between VitalEssence Living and insurance companies. After your massage, your RMT will submit your massage for payment. Insurance plans differ, and the amount covering the massage payment depends on your group plan. A fee may be owed after direct billing is complete. This will be discussed at your appointment.

How do I pay VitalEssence Living Massage?

VitalEssence Living Massage accepts Direct Billing, cash up front or e-transfer. You are emailed a receipt to send to your insurance company or your secondary insurance company at the end of your appointment.

Is massage painful?

During a therapeutic massage, you may experience some discomfort due to a release of lactic acid in the muscles, but this doesn't last long. The discomfort felt depends on which area is being worked on and if there are any pre-existing conditions and the pressure the RMT is using. I encourage you to speak up and communicate with the therapist when you feel the pressure is too intense.

Do I take my clothes off for Massage?

No! You are asked to remove the amount of clothes you feel comfortable. Most people undress to their underwear.

Before each massage, there is an interview process to identify your current issues, after which the RMT leaves the room, and you are able to undress to your comfort level. Once the RMT leaves, you can go under the linens on the massage table. The RMT will direct you on how to lay on the massage table.

I’m self-conscious! What should I do?

We all have parts of our body we're self-conscious about. Please don't let this stop you from getting help from a massage therapist. If you wouldn’t like having specific areas massaged, ask your RMT to avoid them. Know that your RMT is supportive, friendly and judgment-free.

Should I see a Massage Therapist if I’m not in pain?

  • Decrease muscle stiffness

  • Decrease joint inflammation

  • Quicker recovery between physical activity
